Whirlpool Cabrio Washer Diagnostic Test: How To Enter
Activating the diagnostic test on a Whirlpool Cabrio washer is quite simple irrespective of the model you’re using. The diagnostic mode is quite different on a Whirlpool Cabrio washer. You can run different diagnostic modes on it, making it different from other Whirlpool appliances.
You can run about three different diagnostic test modes on a Whirlpool Cabrio, namely: Automatic, Manual, and Console diagnostic tests.
However, regardless of the type you want to activate on your washer, you need to put the machine in standby mode, meaning the washer is plugged in, but the indicators will be turned off.
How To Activate The Whirlpool Cabrio Automatic Diagnostic Mode
You can activate the automatic diagnostic mode in a Whirlpool Cabrio washer as follows:
- Locate any button on the control panel. The button you want to select must not be either Power, Start, or Stop button.
- Press and hold the button you choose for about three seconds
- Release it for about 3 seconds
- Now, repeat the process another two times to complete the three cycles. This means you’ll hold and release the button for 3 seconds each at three different times.
- After the third cycle, your washer should enter the automatic diagnostic mode.
If the process is futile, be patient. You can always retry and ensure you do the press/hold/release sequence within 8 seconds.
When your washer is in the diagnostic mode, all the indicators on the console will be illuminated for five seconds, and “88” will display in the machine’s estimated time for another 2- digit display.
The test will now check for saved error codes. If it doesn’t find any, all the console lights will switch off momentarily and display the “88” key later. The entire diagnostic test process usually lasts about 5 minutes. A beep will signal the end of the cycle.
How To Activate The Manual Diagnostic Mode
The process of entering the manual diagnostic test mode is similar to the automatic diagnostic mode. You only need to include a key/button with the process. You can activate the manual diagnostic test mode as follows:
- Follow the automatic mode steps as described above
- After the process, press the button you choose during the 5 seconds “88” is displayed on the screen
- You must press the button immediately so the washer will not enter the automatic diagnosis process as expected.
You can confirm your washer has entered the manual diagnostic mode when it gives a single beep sound. Afterward, a 3-digit display will pop-up showing console ID numbers for about 5 seconds. If the screen doesn’t show any console ID numbers, you’ll need to change the UI assembly of your machine.
Immediately after confirming the machine is in the manual diagnostic mode, you should select the desired cycle within a few minutes, or the mode will be exited and changed to standby mode.
How To Enter Console Diagnostic Test
The console diagnostic tests inspect the indicators buttons, beeper, 2-digit display, and the cycle selector knob. You can activate it as follows:
- Put your machine in standby mode
- Press the following key combinations within 4 seconds == Soil level => Wash/Rinse Temp = > Soil Level => Wash/Rinse Temp.
- The 2-digit display should .”ow “dt.” Now press the ” START” button within five seconds.
